    Is this serious?

I thought everyone knew that society wants to be as anti-natural selection as possible.

I agree with Jeremy Clarkson in that a moderate amount of bullying helps build character. I'm not talking about physical abuse, but name-calling and verbal abuse is great for building your bantering skills which are crucial to a well-rounded social life in later life.

Since you mentioned school ill take it you meant bullying in school. Bullying isnt neccesary in school, good schooling is. If a bully has time to bully a kid - then the teachers are fail. If teachers engaged the classroom bullying wouldnt be near the issue it is, this is why Americas school systems are fail. The teachers no longer engage, they recite lessons.

Doesn't most bullying happen at playtime?

Having been bullied through jr. high, I'd say yes it builds character but I'd rather have enjoyed those years instead of being depressed about going to school. It's not worth whatever good it might do in the long run and there's long term harm as well.

It's impossible for teachers to stop it entirely, especially as it happens after school as well. I think parents of the kids being bullied need to act by teaching them the physical and mental confidence to stop it. I used to be the second smallest kid in my year at school but verbally I would give back better than I got (and was encouraged to do so) and physically I could stand up for myself having done martial arts since the age of 5. Weak willed kids who are the ones that get bullied need to be helped by their parents if they don't do it for themselves I think.
