Apparently 3 and 4 card sli is fine with the stock cooler, I was worried about covering the fans so went looking and see people saying the slot on the end is the air intake.
They're not squashed up, there's a gap between the cards and the air is drawn in through that - while it's a fairly thin gap, the whole end and length is available so it is quite a large area, overall.

Yeah you are right, I never ran cards so close before and just assumed the plastic would block off all air but I just looked at mine and the plastic is moulded so there is a decent gap for the fan to draw air in.

Yes I am perfectly aware of that, I am not stupid.... I was just saying it would be good.

    Re: GTX 680 Owners Thread

OK, I have my WC broken down while I wait for my EK GTX 680 waterblock. However I have a question, has Nvidia solved the texture shimmering in BF2BC, BF3 and Skyrim with the new GTX 680. AMD has it solved with the 7series. I have not had a chance to play with my GTX 680, so looking to you guys for information here...

    Cheers.

I can only answer for BF3, but I haven't noticed any shimmering at all! It looks very pretty and smooth at 1080p with everything to its max (including full FSAA!)

    Re: GTX 680 Owners Thread

The texture crawling really was a major turnoff for me with the Nvidia cards last gen, the 7970's resolved the issue. Curious to see if anyone with a GTX 680 can run one of the large outside maps in BF2 like Heavy Metal, to check for texture shimmering/crawling...

    Cheers.

Not seeing anything here with SLI on BF3 or Skyrim. I know what you mean with the shimmering as I would get it with my 5970s.

At last. Wanted two of these but my boy said they're selling like twenty cards per minute. Will bench later.

    Thumb resize.

That's a bit odd you know. Since AMDs AF quality has only just reached the same level as Nvidias. According to Anand' the 7970 now just matches the 580. So who knows, maybe it was a bug with the drivers at the time, or maybe Nvidia was "optimising" the crap out of it at the time to inflate benchmarks?
