I think they are unless the blade used was dirty. But if so, that is the fastest transmission ever. In the comic they are all infected, and they have hinted at it heavily here with the people zombiefied without any signs of bites/scratches. The could go a different direction from the comics, but that is a big deviance.

well now that you say that, they would have to be infected in some form or another considering how someone just dying means they come back as a zombie. But i wouldn't say they are full on infected though, more like carriers. As for them hinting at it, you talking just the show or comic? As i remember some people only getting shot or killed in the comic, yet they still came back as zombies.

The hints I am talking about are in the show. The guy who hung himself with the note on his chest only to have the zombies munch his legs off and come back as a walker to be put out of his misery by crossbow guy (who said it was a waste of an arrow) or the 2 cops that were zombies that they killed that had no visible bite marks. Didn't spoiler this as this is all in previous shows. Everyone thinks CDC guys whispered into his ear about pregnancy, i think it was "we are all infected".
