Do you enjoy arguing with people on the internet?
Used to enjoy it a lot, but in recent years I do more observing. [popcorn]
I used to, but nowadays it just seems like a total waste of time. Occasionally I'll put some effort into one or two replies then I lose patience and do something useful.
Bit difficult, when posts just disappear from threads, like that of mine and E@G's in this thread
In general, though, discusions, even when heated, can be good when one or the other party learns something they didn't know or is able to update their knowledge - I've had mis-conceptions cleared up on occasion
What does suck, though, is when you get 'people' just stirring things up and ignoring what's actually been written!
Used to be fun messing around, but consumes too much time.
there is a thread with 48 posts about an american pie movie
Poll needs to be "oh hell yes" option if you ask me
Mostly I sit and watch, but I like getting in a few jabs here and there.
Sometimes I do. I find that how many times something has been discussed, plays a big part in things. Discussing which console is going to win which battle, feels largely pointless having lived through two generations of such discussions (Playstation 2 and Xbox 360 eras, basically). With experience comes a lot of insight and knowledge, plus the realisation that whatever argument I am about to make, will most likely be made by someone else if I just sit back and play a game. The more people debating something, the less need I feel to throw in my two measly cents.
The above goes for posting in general as much as it goes for arguing, in which case it depends on my mood these days. Sometimes I'll feel like stirring up a discussion, but oftentimes I'll just leave it. Much like how many games are being simplified, discussions have become much simpler as well: there is no need anymore to argue which is better, Quake or Unreal, Return to Castle Wolfenstein or Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, Half-Life or whatever game some fool would mention. Now we just say, "Fine, go ahead, have your opinion.". Booooring.![]()
