Erm, devs will just port their PC code straight over, it couldn't be any easier for them? [huh]

Obviously backwards compatibility will likely be down the toilet, but at least Sony shouldn't have to worry too much about the software API's anymore for extracting performance, they can just concentrate on making sure the hardware is good.

What I mean is Sony provide tools to help with development; back when PS3 first came out, there were quite a few issues or it wasn't easy to use. In fact Bethesda complained? OK, machine code will be more consistent, but the tools developers use could have been matured as devs got to grips.

Surely Sony will have to redo these tools?

I see what you mean, but being x86 it shouldn't need extensive dev tools in quite the same way that the Cell tools were, besides AMD will surely help here in modifying LibGCM & PSGL.

If true, this makes things even more interesting hardware wise. If both the 360 and PS3 will have PC architecture, which will be more powerful? Just sucks about BC. I wouldn't expect much out of Sony in that area after what they did with the PS3 but hopefully I'm wrong.
