    Never thought about it that way tbh, since a browser would be for http primarily anyway. So in my mind it would always assume HTTP unless told else.
    Chrome does it that way, so does Firefox: ie they show the web interface if i type the ip with port 88 added without needing to add http://
    Which makes sense, cuz a browser is for http usage first.

    I agree that it makes sense to assume HTTP, however, being a technical pedant, I always type the protocol. [wtf]

    I do too, and I always type out the www for the majority of sites... wife makes fun of me for it.
