FFS! Got the plasma through and it was completely ******! The screen was smashed and cracked in about 20 places.... The couriers are such braindead monkeys! The ONLY job they have to do is deliver stuff and NOT SMASH IT! and they cant even do that!
Oh well back to LCD then I guess and the panel and backlight uniformity lottery FUN fffffssssssss!
Considering that happened to reactivator as well, I'd say the moral of the story is to only buy a TV from a shop and physically carry the TV back yourself.
That's gotta be some impact to smash the screen, or companies don't package their TVs properly.
Mmm I am actually beyond being dissapointed with recieving faulty TV's now....
I have had 2 sonyEX503 (1 horrible ringing noise, 1 was a dodgy panel) 2 Samsung UE40D6100 (1 had terrible backlight clouding and the other had clouding as well although not as bad, maybe I should have just kept that one tbh) and 1 UE40D6530 (the backlight uniformity on this is APPALING for a £800 TV! I would be embarrased to throw this in my own bin)... And to top it off I though "right thats it im getting a plasma I cba with LCD" now I get a plasma and it is smashed to ****!
TBH I am not paying another £800 for a Samsung LED tv because the quality control on them is APPALING! I think I will just get a cheapo Sony EX503 and be happy with it because I am just SICK of messing about with TV's!!!! /rant
Sorry about your loss. I can just imagine myself blowing steam in the same situation.
I agree that QC is ****. Always have to keep my fingers crossed when receiving a new TV or monitor. Not to mention the lotteries where I feel like I'm being intentionally deceived by manufacturers.
Why'd you cancel on the plasma idea though, don't want to give money to Samsung anymore?
Ouch, that really sucks. How badly was the box damaged?
I ordered both of my plasmas from Amazon and the couriers were always very professional and on each order, they were right on time.
They bring the box into my place, unbox it and allow me to connect it to run the display and make sure everything is working before I sign. If there was anything wrong with them, I would have not signed and they would have hauled it off, free of charge.
To be honest, I was a little worried when I ordered my last TV since it was big and heavy. I was having nightmares of it not being properly anchored in the truck and a 170lbs sheet of glass smacked the ground.
The box wasn't actually damaged at all but the actual tv is literally wrecked.... The glass has about 20 cracks and the bezel is hanging off.... Hmm well after taking the plasma out of the box and realising how heavy it is and how BIG it is I realised it is not really practical as it is not a very big room and is perched on top of a hifi rack so it is a bit ridiculous lol.... Ah well I will just get a cheapo LCD for now and buy a plasma in the future... I am just completely sick of buying and returning TV's! At least if I buy a cheap one I can live with any minor faults because it didn't cost much...
lol I agree but if you saw where the TV was placed then you would agree.... it DWARFS the hifi rack and looks like it would break at any minute lol. Ah well I will get one in a year or two when the newer ones are out... Very dissapointed though [thumbdown]
Delivery companies here push their employees to do as many deliveries as possible, as quickly as possible. If you want to check the contents before you sign, the rats probably **** themselves as they hear a loud stamp of their foot.
However, considering there's no box damage, I would blame the manufacturers for the damage due to terrible packaging (probably by overzealous van filling coupled with loose or badly designed packaging (having the stand in front of the screen, etc). But it's not the manufacturers who have to fork out when it's their packaging modus operandi but the delivery companies' insurance who foot the bill, so that's unlikely to change [wallbash]
As it stands, I'd only buy a TV when there is a sale on at Currys/Comet etc and have them check the TV before I leave and retape up and then take the TV home in my own transport.
The delivery company people who work in the depot are probably temps on minimum wage and just throw stuff about... They probably thought "oh look a nice 51" plasma" and were jealous and handled it really badly... I wouldnt be at all suprised [thumbdown]
