    High motherboard temp

    Hello
I recently built a new computer:
    Intel 2500k
    Gigabyte z68xp-UD4
    8 gb ram
    nVidia 570
    Corsair 850w PSU

Everything works fine and temps are all good but i noticed that while gaming (only heavy games) my motherboards temp reaches 60C, it is normally around 40-42C and under heavy use it can go up to around 50C but as i said some games can raise the motherboard's temp to 60C, should i be worried and install another fan or is it normal for z68 chipset?
    Nothing is overclocked ATM.
    Thanks in advance

What is the ambient temp? Absolute temps without this info are worthless.

Also the type of case and cooling being used would help people give you ideas.

Ambient temp is around 25-30C, this is my case http://www.fractal-design.com/?view=...gory=2&prod=68
I have 2x140 mm front, 1x140 rear fan and 1x180 top fan
CPU temp is around 28-30 idle and 50-54 load
VGA is around 38-40 idle and around 70 at max load (i've never seen it go any higher, it's a gainward phantom, extremly quiet and chilly )

Your case is good, I got the R3, and yours is about the same, a little better I guess. Should definitely be sufficient with all those fans, I only have two fans and my temps are fine..
Might be the sensor as Corrupt said.
An easy fix, if it is to warm, would be to put a fan on top or in front of your VGA. To blow cold air across the top side of the card, towards the back of your case. The GTX570's tend to get really warm "on their back" and that heat rises towards the north bridge.
I did this on my daughters computer and it really helped with north bridge/motherboard heat. I just had a 80mm at 7v with some tape to keep it in place
But I wouldn't worry too much about this if you don't have stability issues. 60 degrees isn't that much under load for a motherboard IMO. I consider 68-70 as my "max".

    Thanks for all the replies
I don't have any stability issues, i guess i'll keep an eye on it and if i encounter any issues then i'll install a fan ontop of it.
    Cheers :)
