    Re: Asus Transformer Prime

Interesting thread on xda seems to suggest that a TF700 won't be much different in regards to Wi-Fi performance, and that it is primarily a firmware issue anyway :-

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1444683

Also if your TF201 S/No. starts with 'BC' instead of 'BB' then the issue with Wi-Fi is largely resolved for the most part (mines a BC×××××)

    Re: Asus Transformer Prime

Firstly what an awesome machine!! I can tell I'm going to be one those people who gets his moneys worth out of a tablet! My serial number starts with BC - the wifi isn't terrible but it isn't great. Downstairs near my router I get 5mbps speeds, upstairs one floor and only about one room across vertically from the router it drops by anywhere between 25-50%. My PC/laptop wireless at the same distance suffers no drop at all in speeds. When streaming video via Splashtop streaming from my tablet, downstairs it's smooth but upstairs it keeps skipping and isn't really watchable.

That said, for now I'll only ever use those features downstairs as my PC is upstairs but I'll keep an eye on the newer version when it comes out as well as firmware updates and and decide what to do for when I go away. Am definitely happy with the purchase though!

I do have a couple of microscopic black dots in the screen itself, it's off center and hardly even noticeable not sure if they are dead pixels or something else. Either way it isn't enough to get worked up about as they are so tiny I don't notice them unless I look for them.

Ah still slightly annoying though I guess, but I don't have any dead pixels/dots on my screen here, it's absolutely flawless and probably the best display I've ever used tbh.

Usually I'm so anal about anything like that (I once got a canvas with a couple of black specks and took me a week to stop focusing on them) but these are just so small and off-center that they just don't register in my brain unless I try and look for them. Pretty sure it wouldn't count as a technical fault anyway so not even worth thinking about.

    Re: Asus Transformer Prime

Yay I got mine yesterday. I actually received two for some odd reason. Pretty sure UPS screwed up the shipment for someone else. Both models are identical though. This is the batch that starts with BC so I'm not really having any crazy wifi issues like other people are having. It does have the weakest signal out of all my devices though but it seems to get better every day. This morning I didn't notice any strange wifi issues but still good amount slower than the iPhone. 4S.

I did find battery life to be a bit short without the dock (will be receiving that tomorrow). I was using nonstop yesterday and it fell between 6 to 7 hours on balanced. But I guess that's normal if u really abuse the thing. I reckon battery life will be s lot better with the dock. It's. Sitting at about 3 hours now with 50% left.

What sort of battery life are u guys getting?

On a side note, I do wish that the wifi issues are fixed with a firmware update. If not Asus should have a replacement option for the back panel in the future to really fix the GPS and wifi issues.

The battery life gets a bit better after some use. On my first charge I got about 6 hours of constant use and put it back on the charger at 10% or so. Had it for almost 2 weeks now and it's getting more around 9 hours of heavy use.

Mine has also been perfect like most people here. Got it with no dead pixels or any other problems. It is one of the best screens I have ever used, and in darker rooms with super IPS+ on it's like staring at the sun. Wifi is a little weak but it works just fine everywhere I go. Id rather have weak wifi than the ugly plastic strip that the tf700 is going to have anyway.

    Re: Asus Transformer Prime

I'm getting about 8 hours out of mine as a tablet (balanced mode), but with the dock fully charged you could probably add another 8 hours onto that surely. No complaints here about the power consumption, Tegra 3 seems to do a great job of gating off the four cores and switching to the fifth when possible, you never notice it.

Lets be honest, it's not quite at X360 level graphics , but impressive for a tablet none the less. Goes to show that the next gen of tablets might even be faster than a PS3.
