Wierd (as always) issue with Web pages on PC

Parent's PC's eh? The problem they get is never simple is it? Sigh.

Basically, on their PC when IE is clicked, the webpage that is supposed to appear can take anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute to appear. This happens even if the page is something simple like Google.

    Troubleshooting done:

-IE upgraded from 7 to 8, then 8 to 9
    -Chrome tried
    -Firefox tried
-The rest of the PC runs perfectly with no issues.

    -IMPORTANT?-
-If, when the page finally loads, IE is closed, then re-opened quickly, within around 1 min, the page opens straight up. If you close IE then leave it more than that, around 2 mins, again the page takes ages to open.

-No adware or virus scan functions are left on with any form of live scanning, have turned all forms of live scanning of web pages etc. off.

-All webpage security settings are turned to lowest

-Other PC's on same network have no issues.

I actually fix PC's for a living and this one is irritating me :P Next plan was some form of registry cleaning unless someone else has encountered it before and has an easier answer?

    In MSIE
try going to Tools -> Internet Options

Go to the connections Tab, make sure the settings there are the same as for the other computers.

Will make sure to check when I get in from work cheers.

Also just thought they are on Vista 64bit so there should be a 32bit and 64bit executable for IE, will make sure to try both and see. Though don't hold out hope for that either.

Double check DNS or proxy settings and run Ccleaner are first steps I'd check.

Any firewall logs about blocked/timeouts? Tried without firewall?

Are you saying that Chrome and Firefox work fine, it's just IE, or do they all have the same problem?

Tried "Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)"? Try in safe mode w/ networking?

Re: Wierd (as always) issue with Web pages on PC

First off, thanks everyone for responding :) And it's still not working :(

Update as to further stuff tried:

-Used CCleaner to clean the registry
-Checked Connections in Internet options and settings there are the same on that PC as on mine (which works) although I admit the settings only consist of automatically retrieve settings and nothing else, no proxys anyway etc
-Confirm: Same issue happens withCrome and Firefox and presents in the same way
-All firewalls, active scans and even bloody defender turned off with no effect.
    -tried ipconfig flushdns

The most important aspects of the whole thing imo:

While just sitting on desktop, doing nothing or doing anything but trying to browse net the connection has no issues.

Importantly that also uncludes peer to peer downloading, as in torrent's etc still download fine with no issues aslong as IE isnt open.

Even more important imo, when IE is clicked and does finally get to a page, the internet, for a short time, runs fine and pages appear quickly. After a short but not consitant time, a page will take ages to load, and the connection icon reads the PC as being unable to connect to the internet. BUT at this point it can still see and connact to the normal network.

The above means it must be a windows related issue. Since it happens for multiple browsers. It can't be harware as the network is still accessable and it can be the router as other devices can access the internet while this PC claims it cant.....

It's like the PC has an issue getting browsing connection for a while, manages it, and all is fine, then it starts having issues again, looses it, and re-connects and this repeats, sometimes within a min or 2, sometimes about 15 mins apart.

Re: Wierd (as always) issue with Web pages on PC

Addition. Though I havent tested myself, I am told that, if 2 pages are opened at the same time, the issue doesn't happen.

As in, if you double click the shortcut and launch 2 IE windows at once, the first will stick as usual and the second will open ok. This only seems to happen if they are opened almost together, not if you open a window, wait a few secs, then open another....

......Think i'll just install a new version of windows :P

You Reset Internet Explorer Settings under the Advanced tab in Internet Options, right? That usually does wonders and it can be easily missed by many a computer tech.

Forgive if I missed it, rushing to type this as I head out the door for work.
