Windows 7 install does not see SSD on HP laptop

Trying to install a Kingston V100+ 96GB SSD on a HP DV6 2066DX laptop. The Windows 7 installation does not see the SSD for some reason. I popped the original SATA drive back in and Windows 7 installation recognizes it. BIOS recognizes the SSD and I'm able to run the built in HDD diagnostics.

Anyone seen something like this? There's no SATA options in the BIOS. This can't be a SATA driver issue can it? Windows 7 installation DOES see the original SATA drive.

This laptop only accepts 1 SATA drive, but connecting it to a SATA to USB adapter does show up in Windows.

Tad confused here. You say the HP only has 1 internal drive. So after you pop in the SSD how does windows start?

pretty sure he says he can't see it during install as per title. Try a bios update maybe.

Prob Windows throwing a fit. Happens sometimes with hdd's. Easy fix tho:

1. Put in the W7 Install disk and wait till the Welcome screen comes up
2. Press Shift-F10 And a command prompt should appear.
3. Type in: diskpart
4. Then list disk
5. The SSD should be in that listpreceded with a disk number
   
6. Now type select disk 0 (or the number that is next to your disk)
7. Finnaly type clean. (this will clear the MBR which is prob causing problems)
8. Reboot and try the setup again.

If your disk doesnt show up in the list, then i have no clue

Awesome it worked. Well actually, last night right after I gave up trying to install Win7, I did a secure erase on the SSD, I didn't have to use the command prompt.

I created an account here JUST so I could thank you for this information. I have been absolutely pulling my hair out for weeks because I couldn't install a clean copy of Windows 7 on my DV6. You sir are a life saver!
