I agree. I feel 2000-2009 had the best releases personally, although I have extremely fond memories of the Mega Drive, DOS, C64 eras, because of the lust for some of the games then. But the best games were the 2000-2009 era in terms of story, awe and engrossing gameplay.
I would say 80-89, as back then it was not all about graphics but about gameplay. Not only that but you had many independents instead of these massive software houses.
90's deifinetly. from my magnificent a500 all the way to quake iii arena... ahhh.
look at the state of gaming now... shudder.

I had to vote for 90-99, but damnit there are a lot of good games in the 2k range.
