I read somewhere it's possible to make it look and function exactly like Windows 7, if needed, hopefully that's the case when it's release time.
Access to the Windows 7 style-desktop is a click away. The control panel is still there, the core essentials and tech tools as well for maintenance and service. Start button is of course the Start menu now, not sure how that will fare next year but with heavy refinement there will be improvements.
They have to have the Windows original feel to it, otherwise it'll be another Vista and not hit big in the business world and be skipped completely.
Looks like a "Frankenstein" build of touch screen and windows 7 classic UI, heck, i had problems in finding how to Restart without ctrl alt del.
Unnecessary changes in UI for a non-touch enviroment.
I've installed it on a spare box tonight and its obviously in need of major refinement yet, it wouldnt even let me set the res at 1680x1050. First impressions are that this OS is mainly aimed at the tablet market, I dont like the default Metro screen but I'm sure there will be a way to make if default windows style.
Metro UI looks like crap, horrible UI.
To disable it and make it look like Windows 7, open regedit and go to,
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer
Select RPEnabled and change the value from 1 to 0
You can still toggle between the two by using the windows key.

Put it on VirtualBox yesterday and fiddled around a bit... I have to concur with all the negatives that have been said but there is some positives too for my liking. For example, I like the new task manager. It is easy for the eye and there are tabs for simple and more detailed views.
