    First time shooting racing cars!

I have not taken photos in a long time, I use to have a D50. Selling it because I just bought a Nikon D5100 with 18-55 kit lens + 55-200mm ED AFS VR lens. I am very rusty!! To top it off, this was my very first time shooting very fast objects. It was a pain in the ass with the fence+poles for focusing and imaging but overall I am happy. I learned a lot, hopefully next time I go there I will be able to produce better, and more photos. Any critique is appreciated, I know they are not the best but so far I am happy.

Photos are edited, but not cropped.

No the easiest thing in the world to do, but there's some good shots in there.

i used to shoot moto cross with my g/f its all about panning. also manually set you focus to a spot on the track. then follow the cars before and after and try and shoot right as it crosses over where u focus'd, when u nail it thier great. clear cars and blurry backgrounds

Your equipment is limiting you as well, you need a fast (f2.8 or lower) lens to really capture the fast moments. Do everything in your power to get a faster shutter speed for better results (use a higher ISO as well).

Thanks. Looking to get the 35mm F1.8 and/or 50mm F1.8. I was surprised how close I could get to the track, so I didn't even need the 55-200.
