Not sure if this is the place to post (maybe General?) but I'm in need of a new, easy to use, awesome little point and shoot. I'm taking a trip this summer and i'd like to bring a camera that can hold more than two pictures and not need new batteries every 10 photos.
I don't have a clue on cameras, which are good, which are bad, I just want to take nice pictures, and a lot of them, and then shove my camera into my pocket.
I'm thinking Sony? or even Nikon. I dunno, but I could use some suggestions! [thumbup]
Budget is probably around $200 give or take.
Thanks!
I picked up the Canon Powershot s95 about a month ago and it's a great little camera. I know it's out of your price range, but I highly recommend this camera.
Here's a few taken with it and you can see more on my site under the life & travel section (not all of them were, but most): www.adam-doyle.com
That was actually a really awesome video review, thanks for linking it. After seeing the S95, I admit, i'm a little more inclined to get it. $400 isn't so much out of my pricerange as I just set it at $200, but another $200 could be doable for the right camera!
Also, Nice shots there Kentajen! This is exactly what i'm looking for essentially, a point and shoot that's discreet, but able to take *comparable* shots to something like a DSLR.
I just picked up a Canon SX130 myself. We lost our Canon Powersot A2000IS a month ago or so and when the Tornado hit we had to get a camera.
Its a 12mp, 12x optical zoom, 720p video
For ~$200 its a fairly solid camera. I couldn't pass it up though because bestbuy had a $150 deal for the camera, 4gb memory card and a carrying case and at that price its a fantastic camera. It takes nice pictures, has all the standard features, strong flash, 720p video.
Its not everything that I wanted in a camera. All that I wanted in a camera costs $400+ and that was just way to much for me right now.
But for $200 I can't really think of a better camera that had as much as I wanted in a camera without having too many strong negatives. My main and real only complaint so far is the continuous shots are a bit slow without flash, and stupid slow with flash. I even have a class 10 card (pictures are only ~2.5MB) w/ 1.6v batteries.
