Even disregarding image quality advantages, I find the big screen does tend to bring out the scale of things better in games. One example was Bulletstorm, when you were walking the streets of the city while building were tumbling down. It all seemed too detached, small and unimpressive on the 23" screen, while the 40" screen made it look epic as I'm sure the developers intended. Another case I've played on both recently is New Vegas. The scope of the wasteland just comes through much more impressive on the 40" screen.
