High Quality Monitor or TV for your computer screen?

Would you rather have a top of the line 30" IPS screen or say a LCD/Plasma TV in the 54" range. Assume money is not an object in the choice of these two

to further clarify we are talking 2560x1600 res on the monitor like the dell u3011 or the hp ZR30w or a 1080p LCD/Plasma

Contrast ratio is fundamental to me and I haven't yet seen PC screens that could rival TV's in that area, so I vote TV.

As high as I can find when I'm shopping for a new one. My current TV is around 3000:1. It's OK, but could be better in dark games and movies scenes. My 800:1 monitor looks terrible.

I use my HL67A750 as a monitor. It's quite the beast. Although it's not an LCD TV...

I hear the new Sony LCDs are quite nice.

There's just something about big screen gaming.

Re: High Quality Monitor or TV for your computer screen?

Even disregarding image quality advantages, I find the big screen does tend to bring out the scale of things better in games. One example was Bulletstorm, when you were walking the streets of the city while building were tumbling down. It all seemed too detached, small and unimpressive on the 23" screen, while the 40" screen made it look epic as I'm sure the developers intended. Another case I've played on both recently is New Vegas. The scope of the wasteland just comes through much more impressive on the 40" screen.
