This is generally my experience as well. The biggest offender in my area is Burger King. Most of the time their food is just plain bad-tasting and squashed with minimal condiments applied. Sad.

The best correlation for my local fast food places happens most often at Wendy's. I rarely come away from there dissatisfied with my meal. If I am dissatisfied, they appear to do their best to fix it.

The last time I tried eating at any of the area Wendy's I have either come away with food poisoning or a case of the "afterburners"; I steer clear of them as a matter of health. The local Burger Kings are on par with the sign board pictures and McDonalds has always never matched the pictures but they are cheap (Dollar menu goodness).

Doesn't seem amazing, surely that would depend on the person?

Tasty at the time sure, but soon afterwards you just don't feel great at all, well I don't anyway so I try to stay away from burgers and fried chicken fast food.

I find Burger King is allot nicer.

Some of the burgers are actually edible. unlike the wet card board ones from McDonalds.
