Game-O-Meter: And error (-5001 : 0x800700002) has occurred while running the setup.

Hey there, I get this error message when I try to install and use the Game-O-Meter program. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing several times, as that is the first thing suggested in the other threads. I also Google'd my error and came up with nothing useful. I tried deleting the "C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield" folder, but that made absolutely no difference.
I've tried using three different up-to-date browsers:
Mozilla Firefox 4.0
Google Chrome 10.0.648.204
Internet Explorer 8 (I can't install 9, I'm running Windows XP)

My specifications are:
Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 @ 2.53GHz
2 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GSO 512

I used to use the Game-O-Meter a LOT, really liked it, but I stopped for a few months, and now I keep getting this error, so I would really appreciate any help. :)

I've also recieved the same exact error and I did what you've posted as well. Now the error message doesn't show , the "Analysing System Requirements" goes on but my results don't show up, they are grayed out.

Which browser are you using? IE9 is not supported at this time and Opera/Chrome/Firefox require that you have Java installed (www.java.com).

If you get a result page, it has a link at the bottom that links back to that specific result - paste that here for further investigation.

Perhaps I should have been more specific. After the "System Analysing" bit, the page redirects to this, for example

And I'm using Chrome, as you can see.

Okay, this is then a whole different issue.

Here are steps for obtaining debug information from the SystemInfo module so we can determine why it is not running right for you;

---
1. Start FMSIDiag.exe from Futuremark SystemInfo install directory

Two most common install locations in disk:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Futuremark Shared\Futuremark SystemInfo
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Futuremark Shared\Futuremark SystemInfo
Note that .NET Client Framework 4.0 must be installed.

2. Click Connect.

Expected output:
Connected FMSI v2
Binary version: 4.0.0
XML version: (not sure, 3.54 or 4.0)

3. Click Collect and wait (typically 15 seconds to 1 minute).

Expected output:
Collecting...
Collecting SystemInfo finished.

4. Click Query all

Example output:
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series
Memory: 6128
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
GPU count: 1

5. Click Save and view

Email the saved xml to fm.jarnis [at] futuremark.com and include a link to this thread.

Fixed! For the record, I'd tried installing the SystemInfo component manually before, but I guess that didn't work because that was v362.11 . Well, thank you, again, Jarnis.

I've got the same error. It happened after 4.2 update. I can't install it. Any solutions?

Edit: I found a solution. I uninstalled v4.1, downloaded and installed v3.6211. Then I run a game test (Game-O-Meter) with Internet Explorer 9. It installed it successfully. Then I went to my Firefox, ran a game and it showed me how will i run the game. Hope i helped someone with the problem. :-)

For the record, this error usually means that the SystemInfo installer file got corrupted during download and the installer fails as the file is missing data. This seems to be an issue mostly with the Java-based GoM (for Firefox, Opera, Chrome, Safari etc.)

Two potential workarounds are to either...

- Run GoM once on IE which has different installer - once SystemInfo is up to date, GoM should also work on other browsers just fine.
- Install SystemInfo manually before running GoM. Latest SystemInfo stand-alone installer is here:
