Car headlights; low beam. What's in your vehicle?

I just got done with 2 pair of Philips Blue Vision in two years time. They cost alot and I think the amout of time for a pair of H7 bulbs + price is not so best.

This morning, after nightshift, I started my car to get back home, turned on the lights and ploop... one down. The other soon to follow , as last time it was within 5 minutes this occured. Made it home with 1 light ( the broken side still had small lamp, not completely dark)

Today I bought a new set, yet again Philips. But now it's VisionPlus. Hopefully they last a tad longer and give good light.

Since I drive an older car, 1998, I find the upgrade to Xeon hideous. [yes] So I stay with H7 type.

Now, to thread's topic, What's your lightbulb of chice for low beam??

Current cars are 55W QH, 55W QH with relays and buttty wiring, 55W QH to be changed (with the fog and HB) to Xenon (got the gear) or all 55W QH with relays and butty wiring, as they're proposing making Xenon illegal unless they have auto levelling (with loads) and washers.
I had an older car with 80W low beams with relays and heavy wiring, worked very well - especially high beam as low beam was hard wired on, plus 100W high beam plus a couple of Cibie SuperOscar driving lights with 100W bulbs ! I was doing a lot of 400 mile night drives and it was nice to see where I was going.

OP, if it was an option on your car, or later years of the same model, check out the car dismantlers/wreckers as you may find all the parts to convert your car for a reasonable price.

I replaced the all the crap OEM bulbs as I couldn't see bugger all when driving. I replaced them with Halfords Extreme Brilliance as they had a BOGOF on them

Vast improvement over the originals and so far still working great after 5 months, much whiter light as well.

My car is UK 2002 Focus MK1 (facelift with indicators in the headlights)

    Halfords Extreme Brilliance 55w

    H7 low beam/dipped beam
    H11 Fog

    Halfords Super Brilliance 55w

    H1 Main beam/high beam

Re: Car headlights; low beam. What's in your vehicle?

Right now, just a set of aftermarket Anzo Crystal Black reflectors w/ Silverstar H4s, and Silverstar turn bulbs.

In the back I have Silverstar brake and turn bulbs, and am modding a pair of Silverstar fog bulbs (45W) to replace the backup/reverse lamps. Stock is only 26W.

On deck are an upgrade to 5000K bi-xenon heads and the matsushita digital ballasts from my Altima Couple and 3000K (yellow) xenons in the fogs.

The Anzo housings I installed have a reflector guard designed for aftermarket HID inclusion, but I'm contemplating an E55 retrofit, and possibly a Blazer retrofit for my fogs. Depends on cash allocation to the truck build. [yes]

Factory bi-xenon HID w/ autoleveling and corner aiming.

Not sure of the exact color, but they are pretty much pure white.

Good to see people do things the right way. It's amazing how many people don't know you are not supposed to put xenon bulbs in halogen housings. It's against DOT.
