OP, here you'd've just missed the ticket, there's a 10kph allowance on all limits EXCEPT some school areas where it's 5kph and some also have a 40kph limit that applies an hour before to after the school hours.
Last ticket I got was in '99 for 128 kph on the open road (limit 100kph) on a nice fine day and the only cars on the road were mine and the Police car that came over a slight brow around 3 kms away - when the lights came on I had enough time to stop, get out my driving licence and wait beside the car. It was NZ$160 and the officer actually appologised, he'd've just given me a telling off but there was a clamp down on 'speeding'.

    [rant warning]
As some have said, it does nothing to reduce dangerous driving, worsens it, IMO, as most noddies seem to think they're a good, safe driver if they drive less than the limit - while talking, eating, scratching their bums, etc - anything but paying attention to the road, conditions and traffic around them.

The other complaint is the "safety checks" they pull where the Police just look to see if it has a current WoF (MOT) and is registered - not even a wander around to check the tyres and, as most owners here don't car about their car, as long as it's cot a current sticker, they could still be death traps.

Randon breath checks for alcohol I don't have a probblem with, though, drivers here are bad enough when they're sober - it's the stupid judges letting repeat offenders (drunk or driving while disqualified) off with a fine, etc, even when they're on the fifth or tenth charge I have problem with!

    58mph in a 50mph zone resulted in a £60 fine & 3 points for me back in 2008.

Re: Speeding fines, just got one...

I think ~2.5 - 3 years ago I got maybe an $80 ticket for going 77 in a 65. I was attempting to pass a car in the middle lane, and they ended up speeding up while I was attempting to pass, but the cop clocked me. I find it odd he'd have been able to clock me since the other car was mostly between myself and him. I probably could have fought it, but it the end it was probably less hassle to pay the fine.

That was my first and only ticket ever. Since it was my first, no points went on my license, and I think the fine was reduced to $80, not sure what it normally would've been. I had a bike for 3 years that I just sold and never got a ticket on it.

It probably didn't help it was at ~3:00 am on the freeway. Normal hours, I doubt he would've done anything... That's funny too because there's about 5-10% of traffic at 3:00 am compared to normal hours.

Cheap! Its € 90 in Netherlands.

I don't mind high seatbelt fine's as they save lives or brain conditions ( slamming into windscreen with head is win for glass and lose for head)..

However speeding tickets are the easiest way for income.. and they are absurd high considering what fine belongs to speed.

Do police also take a percentage off the measured speed that they are fining for? Because your speed indicator is not exactly reporting what you are driving? Below 120kp/h it's 3kp/h off. Above is 5kp/h they will distract from what they've measured.

yep, they fined me for 11 kph ( so i guess they took 3kph).

That kind of ticket is comparable in price to what we have here.
