    Speeding fines, just got one...

I just got a ticket. I'm flashed with a camera on a 80km/h (50mp/h) road. I was driving 95kp/h (59mp/h) and the law has to take off a correction. So the ticket resulted in speeding of 12kp/h (7.5mp/h) and costs me 70 EUR! Kachinggggggggg!!!

Fines become way out of control.. Howmuch are simular fines where you live???

You are not alone getting into trouble with the police;)

Two weeks ago I was busted driving without belt here in Sweden - 160€ fine..

It was some kind of belt-week synchronized throughout EU.

But if you want to know the fastest I went, it's 250kp/h in a Subaru Impreza 25 star.. years ago when I went to the track of Zandvoort to see Schumacher in his Ferrari F1 @ the MArlboro Masters.

hehe. Autobahn in Holland is also nice..

    But c'mon around 90 USD for 7.5 mp/h ...... Good income !

Now thats a fine that is in balance.. I can live with that. Not easy money easy to pay.. but it is more coherend to the amount of speed over the max limit set by government.

Do police also take a percentage off the measured speed that they are fining for? Because your speed indicator is not exactly reporting what you are driving? Below 120kp/h it's 3kp/h off. Above is 5kp/h they will distract from what they've measured.

Re: Speeding fines, just got one...

couple years ago i got busted doing 175mph ( nearly 300kph ) on my bike in a 65mph zone. was going up hill toward the sunset and did not see the cop a mile ahead, haha. i stopped for him because i was in the middle of the desert with nowhere to go but toward small towns where there would be other cops waiting. he was actually really cool about it, probably because i was not a ****, but said he could not let me go because of cameras in the car that are uplinked to the station where his boss would fire him if he saw him letting me go. so that being the only ticket on my record and him saying i was co-operative, basically , i spent the night in jail, paid about 350 bucks to get my bike out of impound and instead of about a $1200 ticket with reckless driving charge, 6 points on the license and possibly more things, the judge knocked it down to 250 bucks and 2points for a normal speeding ticket and i had to take an online driving class which cost i think 75 and about 2 hours of my time.

Re: Speeding fines, just got one...

I haven't had a speeding ticket in a while. I think the last one was about 6 years ago. I believe the fine was $110 USD for 68mph in a 55mph zone.

I don't know if they still allow it but I used to mail the ticket in, with a check for the full amount and they would send about half of it back. That would drop the fine to about $80 USD, for between 11 and 15 mph over the limit. That was about 10 years ago.

I sped by an unmarked state trooper once, going 100mph in a 55mph zone. He ended up letting me go with a warning, since he wasn't able to catch up and pace me. I was already off of the interstate and going normal speeds, by the time he caught up to me. He asked me why I was going so fast and I said "because I'm stupid". I said it with conviction because I was sure I was in for a big ticket, if nothing else.
