PC Freezes with new Patch 1.1.0

Is this issue fixed? i cant seem to find it if it is... i can run first bench "sometimes" after i reinstall update but then at calico it hard locks.....whats the deal?

Is this topic dead or fixed that i cant find a fix? If i install the patch "again" i can run the first benchmark, then it goes to load calico and hard locks the computer. If i reboot and try to run it again it crashes before loading the first bench. Is there a solution that im not seeing because im feeling like i spent money for nothing.

Not dead. Not fixed yet. Not trivial to fix as there are no crashdumps due to the fact that this is a hardlock hang. Also have not been able to reproduce in-house - the issue appears to be fairly rare based on the number of reports vs. the number of Vantage 1.1.0 submits daily.

We're investigating and have also reported this to AMD/NVIDIA/Intel/MS as this type of hard locks are usually related to drivers or kernel itself. In theory no application should even be able to hardlock a system like this - at worst it should crash or hang to a point where you can CTRL+ALT+DEL and use Task Manager to end the process.

As a workaround, I have set up a download location for the older installer so anyone affected by this can roll back to the older version and use that until a fix is found.

Thank you for the reply, Just to let you know on my specific system when it hangs on the loading calico...i can hit caps lock and the light will go on and off like the system is still repsonding. However..when i hit "Ctrl+Alt+Delete" thats when it locks...i let it sit for 15 min. to see if it would "unhang" but it did not.

Also....after the patch "in my view" it seems like the first bench loads "much" faster than prior to patch. Not sure if there is something in the patch not fully loading "something" but just an Fyi is all. Thanks for the link also.

One thing worth trying might be to ensure that you have full read/write permissions to the shader cache folder and to clear the folder

C:\ProgramData\Futuremark\3DMark Vantage\cache

Same thing with my PC.When freeze I can use CTRL+ALT+DEL(or Ctrl+Shift+Esc), but after that only hw restart helps.

I have the same problem. With a new system thet is stable for other games, 3dMark06, 3DMark11 and FurMark.

It freezes randomly after pressing the start button, during the loading of the first scene and half-way the first scene.

Wow, same problem. I wish I'd seen this before updating. I downloaded the old version that was linked but I can't install it. I can't UNinstall Vantage either I get the following message.

Think something happened to my first post. Anyway I'm having the same problem. Just updated tonight before seeing this and wishing I hadn't. I can't even removed Vantage to put the old one on, I get the following error message from "3DMark Vantage - InstallShield Wizard"........

Ok I managed to fix the uninstall problem by downloading the full 1.1.0 installer and it offered to remove it for me which worked. I also tested multiple reinstalls with the full installer (previously was using a 2 year old download with multiple patches) after removing traces of previous installs first. Same problem, although I got to the point where Jane gets on the boat near the end of the first test at one point. Revert to the previous version and it works fine.

EDIT: Further info, when it first started happening it was after the first test would load and I got the cache error that it couldn't read from the cache folder. Other times it either froze at the loading screen, or the one time in the middle of the test.
