Re: PC Freezes with new Patch 1.1.0

At the moment the only workaround is to revert to older build of 3DMark Vantage or to try and figure out if there is a hardware issue that is causing the freeze.

    Here is a link to the older build;

Jarnis: "What I could see of it before I misclicked was that... do you have DirectX 10 card and all the drivers up to date? What video card you have?"

Yes, I have a 9800gt 1GB by BFG which supports up to Directx 10 only.

I have the latest Nvidia Drivers which are 275.33 (64 bit drivers). I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit operating system.

This is the error I received. It is the 1.02 version of 3dmark vantage.

    Thumb resize.

When I click run benchmark i get that error. My computer doesnt freeze though.

I ran 3dmark 06 and that runs beautifully.

I will try uninstalling this nvidia driver and try nvidia 266 version and report back.

    Thanks

Re: PC Freezes with new Patch 1.1.0

ok, after uninstalling my nvidia drivers, i installed 267.24 and ran vantage and same error.

Uninstalled that driver, then installed 266.58 and same error again.

So its likely the software doesn't work at all with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit :(

Re: PC Freezes with new Patch 1.1.0

This is not due to Windows 7. That is silly talk.

    I would imagine this error could be caused by corrupt shader cache, as stated in the Vantage FAQ;

Q: I receive an error message “ID3D10Device::CreatePixelShader failed (E_INVALIDARG)” when trying to run 3DMark Vantage. How can this be corrected?

A: The most likely cause for this is a corrupted shader cache. Please delete the contents in the folder C:\ProgramData\Futuremark\3DMark Vantage\cache and try running 3DMark Vantage again.

Aha, Thanks a lot Jarnis your the man!

Yea, I deleted the entire folder and ran the program and IT WORKED!

I got all the way through the benchmark without any issues this is the 3dmark vantage 1.02 that is.

Then i was curios to know if the new one would work. So I downloaded the patch, installed it and that also worked until the second benchmark (The spaceship one) the ship starts to stop moving and nothing moves at all.. it just freezes at that point. So I hit Crt Alt Del and nothing, the entire pc freezes.

    The older vantange works great.

Im very happy though that it worked.

Thank you very much for everything and sorry if I was bothering you :(

Me too. Win7 64 bit Home Premium. Latest Drivers. Total, unrecoverable system lock.

    Asus P5KPL/1600 mb
    QX9650 Extreme
Gigabyte nVidia GTX 560 Ti 1024mb
    2 x 2 gig Corsair DDR2 Dominator
    Win7 64bit.

I also run a dual boot system with Win7 Pro 32 bit on another drive. I'll see if the new patch effects it the same way and report back.
BTW, I deleted the shader cache folder and Vantage ran until the Physics cpu test whereupon it locked everything. I'll boot into the other drive.

Re: PC Freezes with new Patch 1.1.0

I just ran both the older Vantage on Win7 Pro 32 bit and the patched version and both benchmarks performed flawlessly. The GPU has the same (latest) drivers as my 64bit installation but Win7 64 bit appears to be the common problem in all these posts.

Re: PC Freezes with new Patch 1.1.0

Edit: I meant to say, I'm very surprised this has been an outstanding issue since March.

I randomly reinstalled Vantage after all this time because I saw the new system comparison feature on the benchmark results. Wanted to see if my current system was better/worse vs others.

    3DMark06? Ran fine.

Vantage? Lockup during the first test. Screen was bugging out on some guy's hand, but only his hand was messed up, the rest of the image looked fine. It was in motion, but repeating the same few (like, 5 at most) frames really fast.

Lost active things I hadn't saved because I didn't expect any problems.

Ran 3DMark11 next, thinking it may have been a side effect of my RAM (finally able to set them at their proper timings on my ASUS P67 board). Completed just fine.

Went back to Vantage.. this time it locked up at the end of the test loading phase. The status text went away, so it looked like it finished loading, but it just sat there. Hit escape key, black screen like before, forced to power off.

Repeated this 4 more times before I gave up.

Prior to this, it ran just fine on my previous system.

    Specs: http://forum.daow.net/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4

Have not tried the earlier version, but I kinda don't want to right now.

I have the advanced version so I can test if any of the other tests end up with the same result, but it may take a while before I'm down with hard resetting my system. Just recovered from a windows permission error and now all my installed programs are whacked; assuming it may have had to do with the forced power offs.

Has there been any progress with this problem? I've looked everywhere on the site and not a mention of any problem or solution. Anyone?

We've just released a beta version of SystemInfo that might, in theory, help

    http://futuremark.yougamers.com/foru...d.php?t=150162

Investigation is still ongoing - this is a very puzzling issue as we have not duplicated it in-house and none of the BDP members (NVIDIA, ATI-AMD, Intel etc) have duplicated it in their massive testing facilities.
