So little enthusiasm, so few of us. Here's a plan!

It just hit me that there's like 100 die hard fans here on this forum eagerly awaiting for this new benchmark...

Maybe Futuremark needs massive advertizing campaign or something?

Maybe some act of good will like:
Free 3dmark06,Vantage and Shattered Horizon for purchase of 3dmark11?

    and/or

Give out free pro version keys of all legacy benchmarks for everyone? (3dmark05 and older) Seeing as the orb support is dropped, you might as well at least do this so people can finally run all of the tests and so on, even the people without credit card or such means of purchasing.

I don't personally care because I've pretty much got every Futuremark product and will get all future Futuremark products as well as all other companies obscure benchmark / tech demos cause I'm just that kind of weird benchmark junkie but I think something like I described above is needed to make people even remember that Futuremark actually still exists! And to make them think Futuremark are the Good Guys :) Something to really generate the hype.

Just my thoughts. I'd like to see the community here 100 times bigger.

edit: how about this: make some old benchmark like 3dmark2001 open source^^

Wow, very nice idea, this would do very good for FM imago and nice way to continue their future developements.

Maybe we have all read comments about SH how it should be cheaper, but it can be supported also with advertising more or with paid DLC.

Also this would tackle the problem of 2 low hardware on customers, they can and will want to buy dx 11 hardware to support this new benchmark & SH.

I think FM will certainly have something planned...

Not possible, I think, as most (if not all) 3DMarks use licenced software in some part of it.

I can see your point. Use of such middleware as Havoc physics might make open sourcing impossible. Anyways that would have been interesting only to a small minority, whereas some other things I mentioned, maybe interesting to more people.

you know, how i learn about 3dmark some 10 years ago, it was from demo ran off retail shop selling computers to boast the performance of their products... but we never see retail shop doing this anymore, i wonder why and if this can be revived?

I think that the biggest issue is that the basic free version of Vantage started the whole issue here, with its "run only once" mentality. All the prior versions of 3DMark allowed for more configuration, and that was one of the best ways to get people to try the program out.

I ended up not being a fan of 3DMark Vantage, due to that one glaring issue. At least allow the free version to be used more than once, even if you don't allow all the options to be configured.

    What do you guys think?

I hope to see looped demo's again at computer stores ( which computer store didn't with 2001se)... but I fear the price for that is too high.

Further, I think most of the PC users know 3DMark and all computer crazy people will spread the word around that a new one is about to be released. [yes]

And add that you need 1280*1024 resolution, which is pretty rare now consider most run on widescreen, and notebook only have 1280*800 resolution.

Yeah I remember the nearby computer store looping 3DMark2000 and 3DMark2001, it was mind blowing back then. I'd love to see that come back sometime again.

And a bad thing was the required Extreme resolution of 1920x1200, while 1080p is way more popular.

For 120 pixel rows I can't run Extreme.
