    Civilization V

Always dreamed of world domination? Wished you could be the enlightened leader that unites the squabbling world towards a common cause? Well, in the real world there are some practical problems interfering with such plans, but theoretical what-if scenarios are prime fodder for games and Civilization is probably the most practical way to see if you have what it takes to rule the world. The long-running series has now reached the 5th iteration on the PC and while shiny new visuals are a given, how do you improve over a classic like Civilization IV?

Absolutely spot on with review and score. Its clear that the game has weak AI and shipped with a number of bugs. Its still a very good game but shouldnt have scored as highly as it did in the majority of the early reviews.

great review! Agree with Junkie hence why I love reading your reviews which takes days/weeks after a game comes out.
Gives you time to actually play the game instead of reviewing your 1st impression.

Looking at the pics.. I don't see that much improvement from DX9.0 to 11.0.
Will I gain anything if I run at 9.0 instead of 11.0?

DX9 at least seems to have less stability issues and on non-DX11 hardware the performance is better.

The differences are not that huge in still images but somehow when you play the game, the DX11 version looks like it has more minute detail and depth with the visuals.

Thought you were spot on about the AI and multiplayer. One thing of note I have been really stable running DX 10/11 mode on my 4870x2 not a crash yet could be DX11 cards drivers. One thing I found was in-game V-Sync breaks if I alt-tab but if I force it in CCC it always works.

I also think it may be the case of DX11 drivers - I never saw crashes on a GTX 285 but my main system I use at the office with 5870 in it did crash a few times.
