lol i just downloaded and installed the beta's
o well they are exactly the same right?
Thanks for the heads up, although it seems this release focuses more on improved Crossfire support and improvements... still any word on performance improvements?
cant get them to install on my x850. Uninstalled the old drivers, reboot and install 6.7, but it comes up at 640x480 on reboot. 6.6 with the 6.7 control center and wdm drivers is working fine though.
Just updated from the 6.1's on my x800xtpe and noticed some weird quirks.
1) Installation failed the first time and I had to install them again, never happened to me before.
2) Azureus and Limewire were temporarily firewalled immediatley following succsessful installation of 6.7s, never seen this before either.
3) Titan Quest's AA took a HUGE nosedive. When you zoom out, there appears to be no AA whatsoever, this is the case whether I enable it from Control Panel or through the game itself. If you zoom it works fine but it is otherwise non-existent. I re-installed the 6.1's and it worked fine from all angles.
Conclusion, yet another driver release from ATI (6th in a row for me) that leaves me inclined to go backwards instead of forwards. I realize these new drivers are focused on the x1800 series and crossfire, but they should not degrade performance and visual quality on last generation cards or this generation cards. I remained silent though the last 5 releases because I am aware of the observations I just noted, but this is rapidly becoming ridiculous. Crossfire seems like a poor alternative to SLI anyway and they never seem to get it quite right. I'm obviously not an Nvidia fanboy as I own ATI products by choice, but I am a little agitated with the current state of ATI's drivers and Crossfire (which thankfully I do not own)
So because on your non-crossfire setup it makes it a poor alternative for SLi?Originally Posted by katoinc
That's correct, I do not have crossfire as I said above, and you are also correct in that based on what has been revealed thus far between the two systems, I believe SLI to be the better choice, as I stated above.Originally Posted by Sr8Fr4gging

And I thought ATI was improving their drivers...
I can't get a working set since Catalyst 6.4.
6.5, 6.6 and 6.7 make my X700M go crazy with rainbow colors forcing me to reset the laptop when I execute any DX9 3D app.
I have reported this to ATi on their Mobility feedback section for all of those releases and the problem isn't even on the Known Issues list!
I also know for a fact I'm not the only person with this problem and it affects people with laptops from a wide range of brands all using the X700M.
What a disgrace they are for god sake, three releases and not one allows me to actually PLAY anything! They must have changed something in 6.5 which messed it up! How hard is it to fix it???
Never had these problems with NV and now I'm screwed with ATi. [thumbdown] [thumbdown] [thumbdown]
Ok back track a min, you missed my comment. I was not confirming, I was merely pointing out your misleading comment.Originally Posted by katoinc

Now, where the problem is is that you're stating its a poor alternative assuming we are reading what you've wrote. Yet what you're commenting on you have no first had xp? So how're you able to state that without any supporting details? SLi has just as many issues as crossfire, although differing they are there non the less.Originally Posted by katoinc
Like I said, based upon wha'ts been revealed about the two systems, in other words based on published, credible information that's available for the public to interpret and make decisions accordingly. That is why I said Crossfire seems like a poor alternative to SLI anyway, that is my opinion and was not the focus of my orginal post.Originally Posted by Sr8Fr4gging
I did not post to make a testimonial for SLI, nor to deter people from crossfire, I'm not going to substantiate my opinion as it was not my intent in the first place. 99% of crossfire users will disagree with me based upon the fact that they invested a good deal of money in the product so if that is what is irking you, then we need to move on. If you want to debte the pros and cons of crossfire causually that's fine, but not something I'm interested in doing as again, it was merely an opinion and I never implied that I owned it, I don't need to drive a Ford to now that their quality is sub-par (not saying crossfire sucks) as it is common knowledge, or I can read reports in circulation.
If my post was misleading or I offended you it was not my intent, and I remain a little unclear about what the issue at hand here is, but suffice it to say that I believe there was a general misunderstanding and I did not back my opinion of crossfire with facts as it was one sentence in a larger piece concerning ATI drivers and was meant to be taken at face value, maybe I should have put a IMO next to it.
