I got no clue of what you mean by "having to play extra" (having to PAY extra?) but it's the publisher who sets the price of the game on STEAM, not VALVe, so if the game is €20 or $20 it's because FM set it to that price, they can put it to €15 & $20 if they want to.

    Nope, http://forum.team17.com/showpost.php...5&postcount=39 (random example).
If I've miss understood your post, let's just say that it's not VALVe who is applying the 1 euro = 1 dollar rules, but game devs/publishers.

I have just picked an example between many others, just search a little bit and you'll see many more by yourself. Now if they are all lying, don't blame me.

Also, the USA price aren't showed with taxes. It would be nice to know if this applies to STEAM too, but when you buy something on the USA, you have to add the taxes to the price showed on the store. And the taxes are all different across each states, the average is 9%. So if you see a game at 20$, it will cost you ~22$.

Now if the EU, the price already has the taxes included (we have 19.6% on taxes for video game iirc), so a game at 20 euros will cost you 20 euros, not more.

Yesterday, 1 = eurso = 1.23 dollars, so if you mix that with the different taxes you'll see that it's not doing much differences in the final price of the game.

it's from some tariff or something i just don't remember what exactly but it wasn't because of FGS. they sell it to steam and steam delt with all the different countries it sells to. it had nothing to do with the game maker.
I can confirm this... Beta forums ftw Taxes, if I remember correctly

On Steam, listed US prices are tax free. When you make a purchase, local sales tax is added to them. Listed EUR prices include VAT (22%, if I recall right).

If you remove the 22% VAT from the EUR price, and convert it to USD, it comes fairly close to the USD tax free price. It fluctuates a bit depending on the exchange rate and yes, I guess historically the EUR price, even after you deduct the tax, is slightly higher, but not by such a margin that some people make it out to be. Of course with EUR going down recently, the tax free price now is pretty much equal.
