So FFXIII On PS3 Runs in 1080P?

I'm a bit confused by the labeling on the back of the box. It says 1080P, whereas most games say 720P (i.e. Uncharted 2). I know the cinematics are in 1080p, but my TV tells me I'm displaying at that resolution the entire time. GOW3 simply shows 480p,720p, and 1080i (?) as the available resolutions. I'm confused.

It is most likely rendered around 720p and then scaled to 1080p. (implemented by Square) Similar to how if you put in MGS4 the TV will report 1080p and the PS3 will output at that resolution but the game is actually sub 720p.

What you see on the back of the boxes for the PS3 and 360 are supported resolutions. They may include the native resolution, but most games that are 1080p institute some form of upscaling.

Gotcha, so essentially the PS3 is doing the scaling instead of the input device (HDTV).
