As for my experience with Win 7. So far it's definitely better than its predecessors, but I have been agitated by software compatability issues, as well as this weird dllhost issue that forces me to reboot as my apps start crashing once it eats up 4GB of RAM.
I remember using a laptop which had 512MB of ram (64MB dedicated to the GPU) and it had Vista Home Basic installed. Needless to say, the laptop took aeons to do anything useful and the disk was in constant use, therefore it felt horrible. Not only that, but I don't think i've used a laptop as slow before.

I know XP would work better on less ram, but it's an OS that's becoming dated now, and XP isn't even a pleasure to use on less than 512MB of ram when you have your programs installed.

Windows 7 since October '08. I'd rather kill myself than go back to that ancient POS that XP is.

used windows 7 for about 15-20 minutes it didn't look half bad at all and as far as the looks go I think windows since vista looks much more modern sharp and sleek then os x but then I am still on mac

and probably won't try anything with windows on it very very soon

Well, you see, that's obviously a horrible reason to upgrade... That's not even a reason to choose Win7, it's just a reason not to stay on WinXP. [thumbdown]
