Utterly false. Where's the Total War series on the consoles ( don't gimme that POS action game, you know what I mean )? Where's all the RTS goodness? Where's Cryostasis? Where's Crysis + Warhead? Where's Neverwinter Nights 2? Have you seen the Risen console versions?

    PC has it's exclusives too.

    -netflix to TV
    -many awesome x360/console exclusives
-streaming video and music from pc to tv (which I do all the time on current original xbox)
-portability for parties and traveling/vacation Can be done with a PC.
-60" DLP goodness Can be done with a PC.
-many great arcade games I assume you mean Live Arcade? Otherwise, can be done with a PC
-not have to worry about updates, bugs, installing, etc.
    -etc.
You simply choose not to do so. It's your own downfall you're not using something to it's full potential.

True. Point taken. But he already has a PC to play these exclusives.

-Home multiplayer fun Can be done with a PC. (what are you smoking? Im not talking about lan parties. Im talking about casual play here. 1 system, 2 maybe 4 players in some party madness)
-tv dvd player Can be done with a PC. (if it is hooked up)
-portability for parties and traveling/vacation Can be done with a PC. (again, what are you smoking! big LCD Monitor, Keyboard, mouse, big heavy case, may not have proper hook ups for hotel rooms. You can't even come close to picking up a PC and taking it elsewhere like you can a console. To have portability like a console, you would need a shuttle box, and those can be pricey depending on how you set it up. If a computer was easy to port around on vacation, I would have been doing that a LONG time ago. But I can fit my xbox and everything I need in a walmart bag. Impossible for PC, even a shuttle)
-60" DLP goodness Can be done with a PC. (if it is hooked up)

also, with consoles you get to rent, which is extremely nice.

    Re: PS3 or PC upgrade

I'm gonna pass all the "if it is hooked up" because you can hook a console up to a TV or a monitor just as you can a PC. There's no difference technically. It's a matter of choice alone.

I can't think of anything that prevents you from playing Fifa, Guitar Hero, NHL or whatever you like as a group before a big TV with multiple controllers on a PC other than choosing not to do so. I will give you that the consoles have more games suitable for that though. But I'm arguing what's possible on each platform and what isn't.

Why would you mention the display device as a factor in portability? In that case, you should consider bringing your huge TV with you wherever you take the console. You can also build a PC into a micro-atx case for very good portability. All the extra you'd be bringing compared to a console would really be the keyboard. Again, you CAN, you just choose not to when you get that huge bulky case.

Pricey? Yes. You get what you pay for, as they say.

I think consoles will be gradually defeated. A computer is so much more versatile (and generally cheaper)
