I can't decide!
I have the system in my sig and currently own 0 consoles. I do have a 1080i tv.
I would go with a cpu/ram/mobo for the comp or ps3 and one game.
PC upgrade
PS3

I would say the pc upgrade, i also sent you a part list thru newegg to help you out. Its right under your budget too.
Get a console. As much as I hate to say it... it feels like PC gaming is going downhill. Everything comes out on consoles and gets ported (poorly I might add) to PC. I mean hell the main reason to get a quad core for gaming was Alan Wake... and then that got yanked from PC and is 360 exclusive now.
The PS3 is also good for blu-ray and streaming media.
I would say PS3, even though your cpu is a little lacking, i and running almost the exact same rig, only a 4200+ and 4850 and 4gb ram and i run everything at 1024 x 768 at medium to high settings no problem.
With Uncharted 2 out and GT5 comin out early next year, and many other good titles out or coming out soon, and the ps3 price dropm Now is a great time to get a PS3, and you have a 1080P TV so your can watch all the goodies.
I would consider adding 2gb ram to your computer, that would help significantly, and be less than $50.00.
Unless you were to somehow squeeze a new graphics card into your budget I doubt you'd be seeing much of a noticeable upgrade in games
I've been considering upgrading my PC recently but I can't find any reason to do so - as in no big new games coming out which are really pushing the envelope. I'm gaming a lot more on my PS3 at the moment to be honest.

two things to bear in mind with your descision:
1: which platform has the games you like (i play my PS3 a lot more than PC games, however there are some PC games not available on any console i still regularly play - fortunatly they arn't all that demanding so i've not needed a hardware refresh in years)
2: Some people can't really handle the differences in resolution and frame rate that a console brings. Personally i know i (and many others) don't find it a problem at all but coming from 1920x1200 down to 1280x720 (and in a surprising amount of cases even lower) can be a bit jarring for some.
I can actually play CoD4 which is 1024x600 without a problem, what i really dislike more than a low resolution is having to constantly adjust settings until i get a frame rate/graphics trade off i'm happy with, i'd rather just have it on my plate from the start and just get on with enjoying the game - Crysis pushed me overboard on this[cursing]
This is the exact point I was going to bring up. As Sparfucil mentioned, there are games which, if not run at 720p, will downscale to 480p. I am not sure if the issue is as widespread with newer titles but it was an issue earlier in the system's life cycle.
I just looked at MGS4, GT5 Prologue, Uncharted 2, and Resistance 2 and they can definitely be scaled. You might just have to worry about the older games.
Now that Dragon Age is out...PC
I gotta agree, but this is also a PC benchmarking forum so expect a slight bias.![]()
