The drama that is the Art & Music board
Alright, as most of you that visit this board knows, there tends to be a lot of tension between a few members. Not only that, there is a lot of misconception around what exactly happens. So I'm here to clear a couple things up.
1. I agree with majority of the people regarding criticism. If you are going to post work here, you cannot be shy about receiving criticism. This is a board that's designed for people to share their opinions of your work. If you don't wish for that, then don't post here. There are plenty of other ways to do so (like Flickr). By posting your work on a forum, the public will view it. Some will hate it, some will like it. You need to deal with that, you can never please everyone.
2. Nobody is being "protected". JDM was temporarily suspended from the board because he crossed the line on 2 separate occasions and 2 different moderators infracted him which resulted in a temp ban. We already had a discussion over PM and he is well aware what he did and did not refute it. It doesn't matter who you are or what you do, if you cross the line or don't follow the board rules, you will be given an infraction, simple as that.
3. This is mostly aimed toward the harsher criticism crowd. I understand that you guys are trying to help and be constructive, but if that person chooses not to take it or accept it, do not push it any further. You said your bit, you advised, if the person refuses to take it in, just move on. There is zero need to push the matter any further. You all should know by now who these apply to and who it doesn't apply to. The crowd in this board isn't that big, so let's not act like bickering children and learn to coexist with one another.
4. This is aimed for the "beginners". It is highly advised that you take the said criticisms and learn from them. If you are making mistakes and nobody tells you about it, you are not going to fix it and continue making the same mistakes thinking you are doing just fine. Nobody is perfect and there is ALWAYS room to grow, so criticism should be taken in as much as possible because only good can come from using it and learning from it to your advantage. This is obviously my advice, if you still feel the criticisms don't apply to you and you wish to continue doing what you do, go for it. Just don't forget that you're only developing habits/skills that will detriment you.
5. ???
6. Profit
I will add more things to the list as I remember more things to clear up. Guys, we're here to have a good time, no need to nip at each others' necks. I don't like giving infractions but I have zero hesitation if the situation calls for it.
