Which Star Trek universe (reality) do you like better?
**spoilers**
The universes are linked, the classic Trek universe is where Ambassador Spock and Nero came from, but they are still two separate universes with their own unique timeline.
Original Star Trek Universe (TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT, the 10 movies)
Alternate Star Trek Universe (JJ Abrams Star Trek 2009)

ENT kinda threw it out there. The whole tech and style was based on if things progressed from now rather than from the 60s, making it somewhat disjointed from the original TOS anyway.
OMFG!
The new Star Trek was awesome!
This is a must have in your Blu-Ray collection!!! [thumbup]
Haven't seen the new movie and never got into the old films or series, maybe this reboot will change things.
It certainly looks good from the last trailer I saw.
The new film was OK, but nothing amazing. I was surprised how well everyone took the death of thousands of people onboard on the destroyed starships along with the billions dead on Vulcan.
The Trouble with Tribbles and The Wrath of Khan remain the standard, disagree? Go **** yourself.
I found it pretty good, but i can see why fans are disappointed.
Pure action movie, don't mind if they make a series with the current cast there just no good new scifi series anymore.
Prefer the original series' timeline personally.
But to be honest what exactly has the new film permenantly changed?
1) Vulcan destroyed. But they've got a new Planet to colonise.
2) Spock getting his pointy ears in a twist with Uhura.
3) Captain Pike didn't turn out to be a vegetable.
Everything else they can keep more or less the same if they really wanted.
Now about the new film.
I thought it was pretty good, but not spectacular.
Nero was a bit weak and underused.
The space action sequences, although visually stunning, were brief and a bit lame - especially if you watch it a second time round.
I've seen better sequences in major episodes of DS9 (eg sacrifice of Angels or Way of the Warrior) and TNG. Should have been on their epic scale.
I thought the actors were pretty good.
My pick of the bunch was Karl Urban's Bones McCoy. I thought he played him very well.
I just hope they don't go nuts in the sequels and start changing too much.
On the one hand you need to move the franchise forward, but have some respect and continuity of the original series.
Still it's easily good enough for me to buy on Blu-ray and place alongside The Dark Knight and Iron Man.
Not having been a fan of the original Star Treks (though I admit the few episodes I watched were decent enough) I have to say that the new movie rocked me. I loved every second of it.
I was worried that the movie may have been too much for true fans, and I know that can spell the downfall of a movie, but everything I've heard so far from the trekkies I know has been very positive. [thumbup]
I don't believe I've ever watched an episode of Star Trek in its entirety.![]()
