Which is Better -Stargate SG-1 or Stargate Atlantis?

So,I'm a massive Sci-fi fan,and these two's series IMHO were the Best Science-fiction crack-filled addictive substance on the box,I had too get my weekly P90 fix or else.Now I admit I'm slightly more bias/favour toward's the more recent Atlantis,as I have most season's now on DVD,at it seem better Character Development and more interesting future setting and outerspace storylines too me.But the last two SG-1 Season's were a Sci-fi and Gamer's dream,the story broke off from the past boring Goa'uld enemy and slightly more gripping defeated Replicator's,too the start of Season 8...The Ori,easily the most exciting/fascinating Sci-fi bad dude's,straight out of a Classic Rpg game,these suckers were invincible mages with the usual magical Powers and glowing Neon Staff,too scare the crap out you.Typical Story of mostly medieval type Stargate world's too either Worship the divine deity Origin or face being Creamed in various unpleasant ways.Anyway's what Stargate series entertained you or preferred the better,just out of interest,as they were the highest caliber and polished series in their genre.Cheer's.

I haven't watched any of the Atlantis and only the first season of SG1 and I must say I am not impressed, very mainstream and shallow (no offense). Maybe I should check out Atlantis since it's newer I guess..

I'm watching through SG-1 Season 7 now. Rented Seasons 1 through 10 on netflix. But I have seen scattered episodes from later seasons.

Atlantis is next in line, and I hope I can watch it before Stargate Universe goes live.

EDIT: After reading up on SG:U, it looks like its Stargate with the Voyager treatment. I'll watch it, I enjoyed Voyager quite a bit.

the first few series were quite different from the later series, the final series was worlds apart from how the earlier seasons were.

Having seen every Stargate episode possible, I gotta say I lean more towards SG-1. Their storyline arcs stretch over years and years, and all of their main characters develop over the course of time.

The Ori were definitely a sweet enemy, but I gotta say that Anubis' Goa'uld forces was put together very well and made for nice storyline twists, like when the original Stargate planet Abydos was destroyed.

SG-1 before the Farscape actors came in are my favourite and ive watched every episode of SG-1 and Atlantis.
Im a big fan of Farscape aswell[thumbup]

I've skipped about 7 to 10 episodes between seasons 1 through 7 so far when watching the discs. Some episodes are just boring, or filler material and don't contribute to the plot arcs at all, let alone any character development. Filler eps are fine as long as it focuses on character development.

I've only seen a few Atlantis episodes, I can say more after I finish SG1 and start watching Atlantis.
